PARS MEDIA is a production company for high-quality documentaries and feature films with a focus on classical music, dance, and the fine arts, founded by Jan Schmidt-Garre. Films on art – film as art.
PARS MEDIA films have been shown at film and TV festivals in Berlin (berlinale), Vienna, Prague, Riccione, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Ohio, Minnesota/St. Paul, Munich, Leipzig, Paris, Bucharest, Beirut, Rotterdam, Sofia, Budapest, Biarritz, Warsaw, Galway, Monte-Carlo, Seoul and Melbourne.
PARS MEDIA films have received awards at such festivals as Chicago (Silver medal), Prague ("Czech Crystal"), Paris, Ohio, Monte Carlo, Munich, Berlin (nomination for the German Film Prize) and Cannes (Midem Classique Award). International Classical Music Award.
PARS MEDIA’s films have been broadcast in over thirty countries. They are released in cinemas, on DVD, Blu-ray and online, making PARS MEDIA one of the world’s leading producers of art and music films.
Jan Schmidt-Garre
Jan Schmidt-Garre studied directing with Rudolf Noelte, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and David Esrig and at the feature film department of Munich Film Academy. He graduated with a master’s degree in philosophy from the Jesuit University of Philosophy in Munich. Jan is general manager of PARS MEDIA and directed most of its films. As an opera director he is working in Switzerland and Germany. Recently: Capriccio at Leipzig Opera House.

Jan Schmidt-Garre studierte Regie bei Rudolf Noelte, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle und David Esrig sowie an der Filmhochschule München (Spielfilmabteilung). Philosophiestudium an der Hochschule für Philosophie München. Jan ist Geschäftsführer der PARS MEDIA und führt bei den meisten ihrer Filme Regie. Operninszenierungen in Deutschland und der Schweiz. Zuletzt: Capriccio, Oper Leipzig.
